the relationship reaches a standstill, partners avoid interaction, and a decision regarding the fate of
the relationship is avoided. Avoiding: During this stage, partners still see each other but it is marked
by emotional distancing and eventual separation. Termination: During this stage, the breakup occurs
and individuals take the needed steps to end the relationship.
