Do you think the Balanced Scorecard is an effective way to appraise employee performance? Explain your reasoning

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Sample response: I do believe that the Balanced Scorecard is a good way to assess employees. Traditional performance appraisal techniques tend to have a limited focus with an emphasis on employees' impact on financial performance. However, the scorecard approach takes a more holistic view, focusing on employees in terms of business processes, customers, learning and growth as well as financial impacts. This approach sees employees more as multi-dimensional resources that can support business objectives rather than as cogs in a machine. Employees assessed this way will feel more respected, which will lead to increased motivation and productivity — a concept first realized by Follett. The Balanced Scorecard approach also mirrors the performance metrics of an organization, which usually focus on more than one area. This helps keep employees and organizations in better alignment.
