In a brief essay, explain why the late Marie Colvin felt it was important for her to risk her life covering stories about the lives of ordinary people living in war zones.

What will be an ideal response?

To Colvin, the story about wars is not about battles, strategy or technology as it is about people. Colvin expressed a thought not that different from that of Charlottesville photographer Ryan Kelly (whom we read about in Chapter 14) about feeling guilty because she can escape the trauma she is covering. She said she sometimes feels “like a fake because . . . I get to go home.”
