Conversations are integral to creating a supportive atmosphere. A conversation is an open discussion that does not have an agenda or an intended outcome or goal. The outcome of a conversation is therefore unknown and open to possibilities. The outcome of the conversation is determined or created out of or by the conversation itself. It is the result of a conversation.

A sell-job is the opposite of a conversation. It is a persuasive speech that has an intended outcome, an agenda. The agenda for a sell-job is usually to have the listener change his mind, buy something, or agree to something. Many people are more skillful at giving sell-jobs than they are at having conversations. This is mainly because we give and receive more sell-jobs than we do conversations. Sell-jobs tend to reduce possibilities, and conversations tend to expand them.
