If you were in a small group involved in a conflict about how to solve a problem, what could the group do to manage the conflict? Provide an example to support your answer
What will be an ideal response?
Conflict must not be avoided in small groups. In fact, conflict is what allows for new perspectives and the free exchange of ideas. When conflict does occur, the use of principled negotiation is
recommended. Principled negotiation is where the differing needs (or perspectives) of group members
are expressed and alternatives are identified to meet both needs (perspectives). Negotiation is
necessary to resolve rigidity in positions.
