The historical, cultural, and social contexts in which we live influence how we see others and ourselves. For example, women in the 1800s were perceived as being intellectually inferior, physically delicate, and/or morally weak compared to men. Because of this they were denied the right to vote. However, in the current context women are seen as equal to men and are able to vote.
