The immunoglobulin system is composed of five classification of antibodies: IgA, IgD, IgE, IgG, IgM. An antibody, produced by the lymphoid tissues, is an essential part of the body’s immune system, protecting the body from foreign substances and bacterial or viral infections. A particular type of antibody is produced for each foreign substance, which is called an allergen or antigen.

Specific functions of immunoglobulin antibodies:
