The rise in production and consumption of social media along with the rise in broadband Internet providers has impacted the American political scene by giving individuals more of a powerful voice. Through such things as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc., individuals now have the same ability to get their voices heard in an international setting as the powerful media elite. For instance, Donald Trump can post Tweets and Facebook articles in the exact same manner as any individual. Many seemingly unimportant individuals have followers in the thousands or even millions, just as any major celebrity or political personality can.
