Explain why the use of self-identification in surveys on political ideology is somewhat questionable, and discuss other ways to determine political ideology.

What will be an ideal response?

While respondents are able to identify themselves as liberal, conservative, or moderate, they have little idea what the words mean, and-when the option is available-they tend to choose "don't know."  Newer surveys use a battery of questions to determine both ideology and consistency in the survey respondent.
