Describe the principle of self-determination, and provide an example of how a journalist might use this principle.

What will be an ideal response?

Varies. A sample answer follows. The principle of self-determination means you cannot use people just for your benefit, and you must respect their rights as human beings. An example would be if a reporter heard a rumor about a prominent person, and printing that rumor would make the reporter a lot of money, while ruining the reputation of the prominent person. A responsible reporter who believes in the principle of self-determination would not print the irresponsible story, even if it meant a loss of potential fame and earnings.
