What has epidemiological research found concerning the risk factors for committing violent acts by individuals with mental disorders?

What will be an ideal response?

Only a small minority of all people who commit violent acts have a psychotic disorder, and overall they are responsible for relatively little violent crime. However, a statistical connection exists between psychosis (particularly schizophrenia) and violence as well as between violence and drug and alcohol-related disorders. Research shows that the presence of delusions and/or hallucinations may provide individuals with a rationale for violence because of the need to counterattack.
