How can neuropathic wounds on the plantar aspect of the foot be treated and prevented?

What will be an ideal response?

Neuropathic wounds need to be offloaded. Total contact casting or similar offloading applications will redistribute excessive pressure away from the wound area so healing can occur. Patient education to include frequent skin inspection, lubrication, required nail and skin care by a podiatrist, and use of proper protective shoe wear help to prevent neuropathic wound reoccurrence.
