Speeches about "objects" are informative speeches about people, places, or things where the speaker attempts to inform the audience about something that exists physically. For example, speeches about Babe Ruth, the Great Wall of China, or a harpsichord are all examples of speeches about "objects."

Speeches about processes typically are demonstration or "how to" speeches which seek to take the audience through a practice step by step. For example, how to make baklava, how to file one's taxes, how to download music, or how to play basketball are all examples of speeches about process.

Speeches about events describe incidents, festivals, holidays, activities, and other happenings. For example, the running of the bulls in Spain, Octoberfest in Germany, and Mardi Gras in New Orleans are all examples of topics for speeches about events.

Speeches about concepts entail an explanation of an issue or an idea, often focusing on informing an audience to increase understanding. For example, the privilege and right to vote as an American citizen, rights afforded by the first amendment of the constitution, and online privacy concerns are all examples of speeches about concepts.
