What is an Intranet? Identify several key benefits of intranets
What will be an ideal response?
An intranet is a private company network that uses Internet technologies and protocols,
and possibly the Internet itself. The network is intended for employees only, and
departments use them to disseminate information and policies, provide needed forms,
and even permit online transactions of former paper-based processes. The benefits achieved through intranets include wider access to company information, more efficient and less expensive system development, and decreasing training. Intranets can support any type of user device, including handheld devices used by a mobile workforce. Intranets enable companies to put information in one place only and simplify keeping that information up-to-date.
