In your own words, differentiate between academic and popular research

What will be an ideal response?

• Academic research: Written for an audience of women and men with formal training in a particular area of study. Most is primary research, directly from the scholar who conducted the study, detailing the research process and the findings from the study. Adheres to the scientific method, which ensures precision and accuracy. Peer review subjects the research to intense scrutiny by a panel of experts in the field of study. Credentials of the author/researcher are of utmost importance.
• Popular research: Written for a nonacademic audience in an accessible manner. Some is primary research which may be summarized in a way to make it interesting and understandable to a nonacademic audience. Adherence to the scientific method is not presumed. Credentials of the author/researcher are of not always clear.
