Explain why it is important to deal consciously with small losses as well as large ones
By dealing effectively with the losses of everyday living, we prepare ourselves to deal effectively with large losses. For each loss, it is important to "let go" and to express our emotions. If we suppress emotions such as grief, anger, guilt, and fear, these emotions are likely to erupt at a later time in the form of outbursts, depression, or substance abuse. Accepting the inevitable losses of life, and grieving appropriately, allows us to maintain control and promotes emotional well-being.
