Describe the two theories of color vision

Please provide the best answer for the statement.

The trichromatic theory of color vision states that we have three different types of cones that pick up information on color. Missing any of these cones results in varying types of color deficiency (blindness). The opponent process theory of color vision states that we have receptors that get activated when exposed to one color and become inhibited when exposed to an opposing color. The opponent process theory helps explain negative afterimages. Both theories are seen as important as they explain color vision at different stages of processing (i.e., in the retina and in the brain).
