How can you tell if someone has a personality disorder?
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: Personality disorders and personality traits are similar, but also different in important ways. Someone who is self-centered, eccentric, overly dramatic, odd, or generally socially isolated, but who can work effectively and does not harm himself or others, does not have a personality disorder. He just has a personality (even though it might be a bit weird or annoying). Also, culture matters. If someone is behaving according to his cultural traditions or expectations—even if that behavior seems strange to us—he should not be seen as having a personality disorder.
