Discuss the concept of audience centricity and its effect on how journalists relay news to consumers.

What will be an ideal response?

Audience centricity refers to the way in which good journalism always places the interests of the readers first. In an era in which audiences have an unprecedented number of news outlets and platforms vying for their attention, journalism has become more audience-centric than ever before. Reporters must use the tools available to them, such as surveys, website analytics, and in-person interactions, to understand the types of stories that interest their readers and which platforms they prefer to use. However, that does not mean that journalists must pander to readers by resorting to “infotainment.” Instead, they must use audience interests as a starting point to drive their coverage and provide the basic elements of good journalism in their stories, including accuracy, value, fairness, and objectivity.
