Explain the controversy of "helping someone die."

There are both legal and ethical issues that arise during this controversy. The debate seems to be between those who believe that a dying person has a right to die and others who believe it is "taking a life." Sometimes family and friends have watched someone suffer immeasurably. Others may be taught by their cultural or religious community that helping someone to die is ethically wrong.
