Sin taxes—taxes on morally objectionable activities that government claims to discourage, such as cigarettes use and gambling.
Excise taxes—taxes on the purchase of certain products, such as spirits and mixed drinks.
Ad valorem tax—a tax based on the value of property subject to an official estimate of property value called an appraisal. Cities, counties, and school districts rely on property taxes as a key source of revenue.
