How is language related to power? Provide an example

What will be an ideal response?

People who are in power define what languages and communication styles are appropriate. People who use the defined language rules are often able to increase their power, and those who do not use defined language rules are often dismissed. For example, students who do not conform to the "middle class" communication norms of a university are likely to be viewed as "not serious enough" or "they don't have what it takes," causing others to marginalize them.
