Design a prevention program aimed at preventing teenage premarital sex for high school
students.
What will be an ideal response?
Since rates of premarital sex are lower among teens who involved in extra-curricular
activities such as sports, I would design a surveyto see what students wanted for after school
programs and work to get those programs into the school. I would especially solicit feedback from
students considered most at-risk such as those who come from poor families or who are doing poorly
in school. Also students with high grades also tend to abstain from early sexual relations so I would
also have after school tutoring available to any student who needed it. I would have parent meetings to
inform parents that monitoring what their children are doing and creating rules that are realistic can
help to prevent early sex. I would also tell them that those who have sex early are at risk for early
marriage, dropping out of school, poverty, and other issues of teen parenting.
