In early adolescence, individuals become increasingly dependent of feedback from others to understand who they
are. In midadolescence, there is a near preoccupation with the opinions and judgments of others, as well as their
expectations. In late adolescence, individuals begin to set their own standards and form a coherent view of
themselves.
