What is the role of the frame relay assembler/disassembler (FRAD) in frame relay communications?
What will be an ideal response?
Frame relay uses a frame relay assembler/disassembler (FRAD) to convert packets. A FRAD is often a module in a router, switch, or chassis hub. A FRAD is a device that connects the customer's LAN to a frame relay network and is responsible for encapsulating (assembling) packets from the LAN so that they can be sent over the frame relay WAN. The FRAD also de-encapsulates (disassembles) frame relay-formatted data so that it can be read by the local network.
