What is evaluation research?
What will be an ideal response?
Evaluation research is a type of research that assesses a program or policy, including its components, operations, impact, and generalizability. The program or policy may involve a product, service, or problem. Evaluation research is technical, and the rigorous application of scientific research methods is necessary for the results to be valid and legitimate. It is also applied research, meaning it is used to solve practical problems in organizations and in society. Finally, evaluation research should maintain objectivity. On the part of funders and administrators, the results of evaluation should not be tied to current or future rewards for the evaluator. On the part of evaluators, they should not let the process of gaining trust and rapport affect their rigorous application of scientific research methods or change their perspectives.
