In a brief essay, explain what was controversial about Sinclair Broadcast Group’s “must run” programming provided to their affiliate stations.
What will be an ideal response?
The family run group has 173 local stations, and the owners send out conservative political commentary programs that their stations are required to carry. The most controversial of these was a script the company sent out for local anchors to read that discussed news outlets sending out “fake news.” The programming was designed to look like it had been written and produced by the local stations.
