Hypnotists generally say that you won't do anything under hypnosis that you would refuse to do otherwise. What does the evidence say about this claim?

What will be an ideal response?

The evidence is ambiguous. People under hypnosis followed instructions to pick up a venomous snake, put their hands into concentrated acid, and dump what they thought was concentrated acid onto another person. However, some of the nonhypnotized people followed instructions to do the same things. It is not clear what a nonhypnotized person will refuse to do!
