You have an extreme fear of frogs. What are some classical conditioning techniques that may help you with your fear?
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: Systematic desensitization, which involves reducing fear in small steps, may help you get over your fear of frogs. Slowly and over time, you learn to think about, then look at, and eventually be in the same room as frogs without experiencing high levels of anxiety. You can also learn progressive relaxation, which is how to systematically relax your body so that your mind calms down. Another technique is called flooding, in which you are confronted with the frogs right away and, in theory, learn that your worst fear about the frogs is not realized.
