Considering Cocultural theory, how does power influence language in everyday interactions?

What will be an ideal response?

According to Cocultural theory, a hierarchy of power exists in each society that privileges certain groups of people. One of the privileges of those in power is that they, often subconsciously, set the norms for what types of communication is deemed acceptable. Once norms are set, language maintains and reinforces the power of these dominant groups, perpetuating the power hierarchy. Although no language variation is inherently good or bad, societies prefer certain communication styles and language. For example, in intimate relationships feminine forms of communication is preferred. Over time, dominant communication structures limit the progress of people who do not conform to the normative practices—further reinforcing the power hierarchy and marginalizing differences.
