Sources of data for the population-based registry include treatment facilities such as hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, radiation facilities, physician offices, pathology laboratories, radiology facilities, other population-based cancer registries, and death certificates. The focus of a population-based cancer registry is on public health and epidemiology. The registry is useful for monitoring cancer trends and patterns of cancer in populations.
