Explain the effects that fibrous foods have been found to have on periodontal disease
What will be an ideal response?
A diet that is high in fiber (generally from food sources of whole grains, fruits, and vegetables) may be protective against attachment loss in periodontal disease. Although the exact mechanism is unclear, it is thought that this may be related to mechanical cleansing, reduced simple sugars, and stimulation of salivary glands.
