Explain the process of patching gaps in the program framework and give an example

Once the activity boxes are sorted and labeled, the next step involves filling gaps in the program framework. Gaps are areas where there is no strategy for a given behavioral antecedent. The outcome logic model process can visually highlight gaps, that is, places in the model where activities that target specific factors or outcomes are missing in the plan. Patching is the process of filling gaps in the program. The process of patching is much like that described in pooling. Teams will want to research and brainstorm different ways to address the antecedents and be mindful of the types of strategies (health education, communication, policy, engineering, or community mobilization) that work best with select antecedents. For example, in the Smarter Lunchroom model, mini-grant resources were added later to address schools' needs for intervention items such as signage, coolers, and baskets. Schools could apply for funding to purchase items identified in their action plans. Similarly, as the program grew and community members provided input, the list of specific types of awareness activities grew to include cooking classes and onsite presentation.?
