How do the different versions of Windows Server 2016 handle CAL and core-based licenses?
What will be an ideal response?
he Standard and Datacenter Editions require both CALs and core-based licensing. The Essentials and Storage Server 2016 Editions use processor-based (number of processors) licensing and no CALs are required. The Multipoint Server Edition requires processor-based licensing, but no CALs. Users who upgrade from Windows Server 2012/R2 and who have processor-based licensing may qualify for core grants from Microsoft to help reduce the cost of upgrading.
