Explain how self?fulfilling prophecies work and provide a brief example
What will be an ideal response?
SelfÂfulfilling prophecies occur when you make a prediction about the outcome of a
situation before it has happened, then you proceed and act on that prediction as if it were true.
Because you are acting as if it is already true, it is much more likely to occur. For example, if I
predict that I am going to fail this exam no matter what I do, I am less likely to study and
prepare, thus it is more likely I will receive a failing grade.
