What is the difference between active and passive parent consent?

What will be an ideal response?

When pursuing active consent, the researcher informs the parents regarding all aspects
of the study and requires the parent to sign a release in order to assess the child. In
passive consent, the researcher also describes all aspects of the study, but instructs
parents to only notify her should they not want their child to participate in the study.
