Name, describe, and give an example of each of the three types of interpersonal conflict

What will be an ideal response?

* Pseudoconflict, or false conflict, exists when people perceive incompatible goals or scarce
resources, when, in fact, their goals are compatible. For example, Jason and Jeremy share a
room. Jason wants to listen to his music loudly while Jeremy wants things quiet so he can study.
Their goals appear incompatible, but Jason could make use of ear phones to listen to his music
and still maintain a quiet room for Jeremy to study.
* Simple conflict exists when people understand each other but disagree. What each wants
interferes with achieving what the other wants. For example, David and Robert both want to play
Nintendo. David wants to play "007 Golden Eye" and Robert wants to play "Turok." Neither can
play the game he wants at the same time as the other.
* Ego conflict occurs when personality becomes the primary issue rather than the goals and
resources that seem to start the conflict. When David and Robert fight over the use of the
Nintendo, David screams at and insults Robert. Robert becomes defensive and attacks David in
return.
