What are the drawbacks of using a symbolic link?

Assuming you choose the proper type of link for your use, the only real drawback of symbolic
links is that you can wind up with a cluttered directory of links that may or may not point
anywhere. If you move (rename) the file to which the symbolic link points, the link is not updated.
