Discuss the grid system of city design in Teotihuacan in Mesoamerica and compare it with the Tang capital Chang’an in China.

What will be an ideal response?

Both cities were enormous for their time period. Both grids make reference to celestial elements: the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon in Teotihuacan and the street alignment of the noon sun and North Star in Chan’an. Teotihuacan’s Pyramid of the Sun is an image of time. The organization of Chang’an dramatized the Tang commitment to social order and mirrored the order of the cosmos.
