When inserting a new station into a token ring network, why is the lob test performed and how is it performed?

What will be an ideal response?

A lob test, or lob media check process, is done by NIC to verify the lobe media check. To perform this test, the new station is wrapped at the MSAU (looping the transmission line to the receiver line) to find out if the inserted station can transmit and receive signals without error.
