What are three ethical considerations one should take into account when choosing a topic? Identify and explain each. Provide an example topic and illustrate your point by showing how the three ethical considerations relate to it

What will be an ideal response?

The ideal answer would include the following:
1. The student should outline the importance of considering accuracy, fair-mindedness (objectivity versus subjectivity), and taste and judgement when choosing a subject.
2. The student should identify a topic for a speech and demonstrate how they would think through the three ethical considerations when crafting a speech. For example, they might identify the topic of abortion for a speech. They could talk about the role of validating sources in picking accurate information. They could also acknowledge the role of the speaker's perspective that would render them less than objective, but highlight how they could strike to be fair-minded towards their audience by being willing to suspend their own judgements and keep an open mind. Lastly, they could highlight how abortion may be a controversial topic for some of their audience and the importance of approaching it with sound judgement about what would embarrass or offend their audience.
