Discuss at least two examples of the impacts of the Spanish on the indigenous peoples of the Americas.

What will be an ideal response?

The ideal answer should include:
- Much of the indigenous culture and history was destroyed and artifacts and items of cultural significance looted and/or lost.
- The Spanish brought guns, horses, and armor, and the Aztecs did not have these items.
- Christianity spread throughout the region, to the detriment of indigenous religious traditions, and the Spanish built colonial churches over important native sites.
- The cultures eventually blended into a syncretic culture of Christian and native.
- Many indigenous peoples were killed in battles with the Spanish.
