The stages-in order-are sensorimotor (ages 0-2) preoperational (2-6 or 7), concrete operational (7-11), and formal operational (12 and on). The student should address concepts such as object permanence, egocentrism, animistic thinking, centration, conservation, and mental operations. Mental representations, logic, and abstract thinking should be addressed as well.
