People may believe that they can tell if others are lying when they are not talking by observing their body language. In reality, according to scholars, there is no true way to determine whether someone is being honest or dishonest on a consistent basis. Although people not making eye contact when speaking may reveal that they are lying in that instance, if they do it in another circumstance, it may be just a choice to look in a direction other than the eyes of the person to whom they are speaking.
