Answer: There is evidence that job satisfaction causes performance and that the most important facet has to do with the content of the work itself. Interesting, challenging jobs are most likely to stimulate high performance. Although job satisfaction contributes to performance, performance could also contribute to job satisfaction when good performance is followed by rewards. As a result, employees are more likely to be satisfied. However, contemporary research indicates that satisfaction is more likely to affect performance, rather than the reverse.
