How do scholars today feel about using the concept of “delayed evolution” to explain the culture of groups such as Native Americans as being “simple”?

What will be an ideal response?

• Today scholars reject using the idea of "delayed evolution" to explain Native-American cultures as "simple." (This is an outdated ethnocentric concept.) In spite of the fact that their music and/or language is not written down in symbolic notation, what appear to be simpler cultures turn out to be very complicated.
• Thus scholars today reject this notion.
