Discuss the physical and mental characteristics of effective listening

?
Listening is both a physical and mental activity. Without being able to hear properly, you lose your ability to effectively listen. The first prerequisite for effective listening is the ability to hear, and this should be assessed for any physiological impairments. Mental characteristics can affect the ability to listen. If you are not "sharp and focused," your mind will tend to wander to other thoughts. Your physical body is present, but your mind is miles away. The term associated with this phenomenon is daydreaming.
