In what are called dubbing sessions, music is combined with dialog in a synchronization process that
is often referred to as rerecording. This work usually takes several days. The volume of every sound is
adjusted, in addition to being placed. In some cases, a decision is made to recut segments. The
composer, music cutter, sound effects person, and one to three engineers or mixers attend these
dubbing sessions. At elaborate dubbing facilities, up to seven mixers work together at a huge console.
Film directors attend these sessions to make sure the sounds they require are recorded at the right level
of prominence.
