Both agents and brokers are controlled by the principle agency legal relationship. However, the principle agent relationship exists between the insurer and the agent in the agent relationship. It exists between the client and the broker in the brokerage relationship. Therefore, any knowledge told to an agent is automatic knowledge of the insurance company. Anything told to the broker is not automatic knowledge of the company.
