How does information processing speed develop, how is it assessed, and what does it predict?

What will be an ideal response?

People that are fast processors tend to show increases in intellect over time; it is
theorized that fast processing speed represents quick thinking. It is traditionally
assessed via reaction time during stimulus presentation; however, the person must
be fast as well as accurate in their response. It is debatable why children become
quicker processors as they mature. One theory is that we need to devote less
attentional resources to familiar tasks over time, which results in quicker and more
accurate thinking.
